Johan has more than thirty years of experience in the international art market, and founded ART CONSULT as an independent art advisory in 1999.
Until 1999 Johan worked at Christie’s in Amsterdam as Head Auctioneer where he became familiar with all aspects of an auction. He was a specialist responsible for the bi-annual sales of Old Master Paintings. And specifically for the annual sale of Dutch and Flemish Old Master Drawings. He joined Christie’s as the specialist for Old Master Paintings and Drawings, as well as for Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints, a field in which he has published several articles.
Before joining Christie’s in 1986 Johan worked at art dealers in The Netherlands, England and Germany.
